Located in a noble building of the Baroque of Catania, B&B Chapò is located right in front of the opera house Massimo Bellini (teatromassimobellini.it) , on the street considered “the lounge” of Catania.

Via Teatro Massimo is in fact one of the most beautiful and safe streets in Catania. It’s a neuralgic point of the city that enjoys the proximity of the major cultural sites and, at the same time, the strong and intense catanese nightlife; the area is full of bars, restaurants and taverns, theaters, pubs.

Only a kilometer from the property, 10 minutes walk, you can visit the Ursino Castle, a robust medieval manor founded by Frederick II in the 13th century, that today houses the Museo Civico with its collection of archaeological artefacts, and very interesting exhibitions; in a 5 minutes walk, you will be in the picturesque and ancient Pescheria, the city’s exuberant fish market, located between the arches of the Marina and Piazza Duomo, here you can admire the baroque façade of the Cattedrale di Sant’ Agata and the Fontana dell’Elefante, a flamboyant fountain featuring a smiling elephant and Egyptian obelisk, right at the entrance of the cathedral you can visit the Achilles thermal baths. North of here, there’s a second impressive square, Piazza Università, which leads on to Via Etnea, the city’s main shopping strip, and yet the Greek-Roman Theater, Via Crociferi with past several elegant baroque churches, the Monastero dei Benedettini, once Europe’s second-largest monastery but now part of Catania university…and much more.

For a day at the sea you have to choose between the indisputable black beauty of the lava stone cliff or the Playa with its fine and soft sand. The first lido is just under the house, a couple of minutes waliking, the Playa instead, is reachable by public transport in less than 15 minutes.

You will not find it difficult to reach distant destinations such as the wonderful Taormina or visit the mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano, and the surrounding villages.

The Fontanarossa Airport is less than 4 km away, just over 10 minutes by car or by public transportations.
